Frequently Asked Questions

Who is eligible to registration for DVC?

Male and female athletes entering second through eight grades for the fall school year are eligible to participate in DVC.  No prior cheer experience is necessary for participation on a DVC sideline squad.

When is registration?

Online registration for returning DVC athletes will open January 8, 2024 through a link sent via e-mail on January 8.  There is a one week window for returning athlete registration running through January 14th.

Online registration may be completed from the Menu at the top of this page once open for new and returning athletes on January 22, 2024.

There is a non-refundable $50 registration due at the time of registration for Sideline and $150 for Sideline & Competition.

HOW IS My athlete PLACED ON a SQUAD?

Squad placement is based upon the grade they are entering in the fall of the upcoming school year.  Based on registration numbers, up to two grade levels may be combined.

With team growth, we cannot commit to placing your athlete with another specific athlete.  We will continue to try to group schools together but cannot guarantee any specific placement.

However, grade levels with multiple squads will be practicing on the same day and time which should help support carpooling.

HOW MANY Athetes ARE ON A Squad?

DVC will be taking up to 24 cheerleaders per squad.

However, the number of squads available will be directly tied to the number of Parent Coaches and High School Coach availability.

WHAT IF my athlete is WAITLISTED?

Waitlisted athletes are not required to pay the initial mandatory $50 registration fee.  You will be notified by May 12th if a spot has been secured for your child.  At that time, the $50 registration fee will be due.

As the program grows so will team availability and any interested athletes who do not secure a spot for this season are encouraged to follow DVC on social media where opportunities will be posted for upcoming seasons.

How will uniforms work?

All DuPage Valley Cheerleaders purchase their own uniform through Kirhofer's Sports, Inc.  A team fitting will be scheduled in May purchases will be made through a private online team store.

DuPage Valley Cheer has an established uniform program whereupon we make a minimum two (2) year commitment to a particular style of uniform.

For 2024 there will be an option for a full uniform package as well as an a la carte for those that may only need one or two items.

A change for 2024 is that athletes will be required to have a DVC jacket to be used when the weather is chilly.

WHERE/WHEN ARE PRACTICES?

Practices will be held at Knoch Park 724 S. West St, Naperville IL 60540.  Practices will be two days a week, with one between Monday and Thursday and the second immediately preceding the weekend game. Based on grade level, practices will last between one and two hours.

Specific practice times will be determined by each Coach's availability, preference and facility space.

ARE THERE PRACTICES OVER THE SUMMER?

Due to changes in the ICA Competition scheduling, the practices for the competition squad may begin much earlier in the season.  As we get more information, this will be communicated.

The DVC Saints season will kick-off with a Sideline Camp held at the end of July.  Specific Dates and Times are TBD.

This Sideline Camp is highly encouraged as all sideline chants, jumps and stunting will be taught through a mini clinic format to cheerleaders and coaches by our community DVC High School Cheerleaders!

WHERE/WHEN WILL FOOTBALL GAMES TAKE PLACE?

DVC Saints Sideline Squads will cheer HOME games only located at Knoch Park, Nike Field, Naperville Central and/or Naperville North High Schools Varsity Fields.

Pre-season games are in August. Regular Season Games take place over an 8 week period in September and October, and are played on Saturdays or Sundays.  Playoff games are scheduled for late October.  The BGYFL Super Bowl typically takes place in November.

The BGYFL does not distribute the game schedule until the week of the first games.  DVC is committed to a 24 hour turn around of our cheer schedule from the official release of the BGYFL schedule.  In 2023, there were two releases, one for the first four weeks and a second for the remainder of the season.  DVC will be following the lead of BGYFL and is unable to provide any game day times until this schedule is released.  We appreciate your patience and understanding.

WHAT ARE THE LEAGUE RULES DVC SAINTS WILL FOLLOW?

As a Member of the Bill George Youth Football League, Naperville Saints Football abides by the BGYFL Rules and Illinois High School Association Youth Sports Guidelines.

DVC Saints are expected to do the same in addition to following ICA (Illinois Cheer Association) by-laws and our DVC Code of Conduct.

DOES DVC have competitive cheer?

DVC will be offering one or two competition squads. This team is only available for more experienced male and female athletes entering 6th, 7th & 8th grade.  The DVC competition team assignments will be determined after a coach evaluation.

While tumbling is not required, considerations to have you athlete work on in the off season are: summersault, a cartwheel or round-off, front or back walkover and/or back handsprings.  Stunting experience is preferred, but not mandatory.

Participation on The DVC competition team requires additional program fees and a high expectation of attendance.  A parent meeting will be held once registration has been closed to provide additional details and requirements.

Additional details will be provided at the parent meeting.

How do I register my athlete for the competition squad?

Athletes must select the Competition and Sideline option during registration.  All competition athetes must participate in the Sideline program to be eligible for the Competition Squad.  Evaluations for athletes interested in competition squad placement will be conducted. Prior to evaluations, a parent meeting will be held to outline program details.  Specific dates and times are TBD.

Should your athlete be selected for the competition squad, they will expected to participate in the sideline cheer program with additional competition squad responsibilities.

There is an elevated commitment expectation for athletes selected for placement on this squad.

Is there a discount for multiple athletes?

At this time, DVC is not offering any discounts for multiple athlete registration.

Is financial aid available?

DVC is looking to secure sponsorships to make the sport of cheerleading accessible to all interested athletes.

Please reach out to DVC should financial concerns arise.
